Game Designer Hid a Marriage Proposal in a Game Boy Classic

Many years before he hacked Donkey Kong to flip the game’s gender roles for his young daughter, game developer Mike Mika hid something away in another classic game. While porting the Atari game Klax to the Game Boy Color in 1999, he hid a marriage proposal to his girlfriend in the game’s code. But she wouldn’t find it until years later. Today, Mika tells Game|Life how it all went down.
