Locate my Local Network IP address

What is my Local Network IP address?

…and how to locate it.

WINDOWS KEY windows-key-logo-symbol+ R

Type CMD or COMMAND

Type ipconfig (or ipconfig /all)

Look at the adapter you are wanting your IP address for, most commonly titled Ethernet Adapter or Wireless LAN adapter

Now search for the field that says IPv4, after this field you should see a number broken up with 3 decimals, for example 192.168.1.1

this is your IPv4 address.

Some companies are moving to a new standard called IPv6.  Though not common some places use this as a public address. This address is represented with semi-colons and is represented with 8 alphanumeric characters  and 7 semi-colons. For example, 0:0:0:0:0:0:0:1
